Just when you thought we were closer to adopting individual protection rights France has now entered the surveillance debate and has proposed an extensive surveillance law.
This new law is even more extensive than the Patriot Act and provides unlimited data collection at all major points within the country. The proposal would require every service provider to install black boxes on their main backbones permitting authorities to filter and collect all traffic flowing through them.
The argument being used is that everyone else is doing it, so we may as well get in on the act as well. Pretty interesting approach to say the least. Please refer to the great analysis on TechCrunch.
