The New York Privacy Act (NYPA) is a proposed law by New York which seeks to address how online platform/social media firms process personal data. The Bill was introduced on May 9, 2019 and hearings conducted in late 2019. The Bill was generally perceived as being tougher than Calfornia’s Privacy Act, but failed to get support from the Assembly members.

There have been some discussions about a second attempt, but as of mid 2020 it has failed to materialize.
